Wellness and vaccinations for every stage of your pet’s life.
More than a needle. A proper check on how your pet is doing.
Your pet’s annual check-up is the single most useful thing you can do for them. It is the best chance we get to catch something early, while it is still easy to treat. We do a full physical examination from nose to tail, talk through anything you have noticed at home, and make sure preventive care is on track.
What your pet needs changes as they grow. A puppy or kitten needs a different kind of care to a settled adult, and an older pet needs us watching for different things again. Here is how wellness care works at each stage, across both our Cardiff and Cameron Park clinics. Whichever clinic you visit, your vet has your pet’s full history in front of them.

The right care, at the right time.
From a first puppy or kitten visit through to senior wellness, here is what we look after at each stage.

Puppy & Kitten
Bringing home a new puppy or kitten is exciting, and there is a lot to get sorted in the first few months. The first visit sets everything up. We do a full health check, start the vaccination course, and walk you through what the year ahead looks like. No rushing, and no question too small.
Adult Pets
Once your pet is grown, an annual check-up is more than a booster. It is a yearly chance to spot the things that creep up slowly, like weight, dental disease or a heart murmur, before they turn into something bigger. And because you know your pet better than anyone, what you’ve noticed at home matters as much as what we find.

Senior Pets
Pets age faster than we do, and from about seven, small changes start to matter more. A senior wellness check is about catching the slow, quiet changes before they become a problem. For an older pet, a lot can change in twelve months, so we usually recommend checking in more often than once a year.
The Annual Dog Preventive Healthcare Package.
Cardiff is tick country. Leptospirosis is active in the local area, and we see heartworm cases here too. This package bundles the prevention your pet needs for the year into one straightforward option, available from twelve months of age or at the first annual visit.
Annual vaccination
An annual C7 booster, to keep your dog’s core protection up to date for the year ahead.
Annual heartworm injection
Twelve months of heartworm prevention in a single yearly injection, so it is one less thing to remember.
Tick and flea prevention injection
Year-round cover against paralysis ticks and fleas, sorted for the twelve months ahead.
12 months of worming
A full year of intestinal worm treatment, included so your pet’s worming schedule is handled.
Please note: Annual tick prevention and heartworm injections are prescription medications. Your veterinarian will assess your pet’s individual health, lifestyle and risk factors to determine whether these medications are appropriate, and recommend the most suitable prevention option for your pet.
Frequently asked questions
The things people ask us most.
Puppies and kittens come in three times in their first few months as part of their vaccination course. Adult pets need an annual check-up. From about ten years of age, we usually recommend checking in more often, because more can change in a year for an older pet.
For dogs, we vaccinate to C7 level. That covers distemper, hepatitis and parvovirus, plus leptospirosis, which is present in the Cardiff and Lake Macquarie area, and kennel cough. For cats, an annual F3 covers the main risks. Your vet will confirm the right schedule for your pet’s age and history.
It happens, and we are not here to make you feel bad about it. Life gets busy. Just book in and we will get your pet back on track. Depending on how overdue they are, your vet may restart the course or simply give a booster.
Titre testing is a blood test that measures the immunity your pet already has. If the levels are still protective, your pet may not need that vaccination this year. It is available as an alternative to routine vaccination if that suits you and your pet.
Yes. We send reminders so an annual booster or check-up does not slip through. If you have moved or changed your number, let us know so your reminders reach you.
A check-up is a complete physical examination and time to discuss anything that’s worrying you. Before we go ahead with anything beyond the consultation, we will talk you through what is involved and what it costs. We offer GapOnly for insured pets, and Afterpay and VetPay for everyone else.
As soon as you can after bringing them home, usually from six to eight weeks of age. The first visit is a full health check and the start of their vaccination course, and you will go home with an information pack and prevention samples. We can also microchip your puppy or kitten at this visit if they have not already been done.
